Movie Posters vs DVD Covers for Kids’ Movies


I recently saw a gallery showing the difference between the artistic and dramatic tone to movie posters as opposed to their bright and colorful DVD covers, also shoving in minor characters into the mix.

I think the idea is that the Theatrical versions are supposed to appeal to the adults, so that they would want to site through the movie with their kid. While the DVD covers are more for kids who can reach for the DVD’s to show their parents “I WANT THIS!” Hence all the side characters, brighter colors, and more “actiony” “in your face” designs.
